It is totally normal to have a lot of questions when you are making an investment. I am happy to answer any you may have! We can chat on the phone or meet for a cup of coffee. I love getting to know my clients prior to our session together.

Here are answers to a few questions I get asked all the time:

What should I wear for a session?

Keep it simple. Have you ever looked at an old photo and said, "What were they thinking wearing that?" Oftentimes, the individual was wearing a bright color or a loud pattern. Simple colors and timeless styles will never go out-of-fashion. Wear a color that you feel good in, and avoid patterns and logos. If you are being photographed with another individual, make sure that you coordinate your ensembles. You don't have to wear the exact same thing to look great in a photo. Be comfortable, be yourself, and you'll look great.

Where do sessions take place?

I prefer to use natural light for photographs. The outdoors is a beautiful space for photographs. I am happy to mee t at a location of your choice, or we can meet at a location such as the State Botanical Gardens. I have studio lighting and several backdrops which I can transport to your home. Indoors is best for newborn photography.

How long should I expect my session to last?

Please plan on your portrait sessionl lasting from about an hour to two hours depending on the location, number of individuals being photographed, and their ages. Newborn sessions will last between two and five hours. If a child needs to take some time-out to play or eat a snack, doing so will keep him much happier in his photographs. This is especially important for newborns. Eating several times throughout a session keeps a newborn happy and sleepy.

When do I need to schedule photographs of my newborn?

Newborn babies are best photographed early. When they are just a few days old (5 to 10 is best), they are very sleepy (let's hope!), and moldable (huggable!). This makes it easier to photograph them. Please let me know that you would like me to photograph your newborn before he or she is born so that I can think of some potential dates for your session. Once your little one arrives, call me so we can set-up your photographs.

Why should I pick you?

I will photograph your loved ones and events like they are my own.

How many children's photographers are also elementary school teachers? I am qualified to interact with children and as a teacher, I have a clear background check on file.

At your wedding, I will not only do what you ask of me, but I will surprise you and do more.
